Bartlett enters his third season with the Condors and second as director of hockey operations. The Lethbridge, Alberta native?s duties include scouting, recruiting and being the primary liaison with AHL and NHL teams. Bartlett was given a one-year extension on his contract in May and will remain Bakersfield?s director of hockey operations through the 2008-09 season.
Bartlett has more than four decades of experience at the professional, semi-pro, college and junior hockey ranks, and has been a part of seven championship teams. He has worked as the scouting director with the Fresno Falcons, including their Taylor Cup Championship season in 2001-02. He also worked with the Las Vegas Wranglers during their strong ECHL debut in 2003-04. Bartlett was also a scout for two seasons with the WCHL's Phoenix Mustangs and worked closely with Marty Raymond on assembling Phoenix's 2000 Taylor Cup Championship team.
At the junior hockey level, Bartlett served as general manager for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes from 1990-1995 and as a coach for one of those seasons. He helped lead the Hurricanes into the playoffs in four of those five years, including an East Division Championship.
In 1964, Bartlett was a key member of the NCAA National Championship team at the University of North Dakota. In the championship game, he chipped in a pair of assists against Denver University. He played three seasons with the Fighting Sioux, was selected the team's Most Valuable Player during their championship season and was voted into the UND Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. In the years between his college days and his time with Phoenix, Bartlett was involved at every level of the game. Various roles included serving as a player/coach in the semi-pro ranks, coaching AAA Midgets, ownership involvement at the junior level and serving in the Canadian Winter Olympic development program.
