Bobblehead Giveaway and Hockey-Thon highlight huge weekend

41 straight hours of hockey to raise money for the fight against breast cancer

This Week in Condorstown:

Tuesday, Feb. 19: Mascot Colonel Claw'd will visit the Childtime Children's Center at 10 a.m. The Colonel will greet children and act out parts of a story for the youngsters as their teacher reads the story aloud.

Tuesday, Feb. 19: Mascot Colonel Claw'd will walk with students from Highland Elementary School from 11 to 12:30 p.m. as part of the students lunch time walk program to promote exercise and healthy living.

Wednesday, Feb. 20: Tune into Daybreak on Channel 29 from 5 to 7 a.m. to see Condors players Mark Derlago, Michel Robinson, Jason Kostadine and Scott Balan, as they discuss a number of Condors related subjects.

Wednesday, Feb. 20: Condors player Steve Slonina will read to students at Van Horn Elementary School during their Celebrity Reader Program, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 21: The Condors will hold a Media Roundtable at Tailgaters Sports Grill from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Condors speakers will include coach Marty Raymond, President Matthew Riley and VP of Communications Kevin Bartl. Tailgaters is located at 900 Truxtun Ave # 110. Members of the media should RSVP to 324-PUCK (7825).

Thursday, Feb. 21: The Condors Coach's Show will air live from the Holiday Inn Select. You can catch Head Coach Marty Raymond and a Condors player, along with the Voice of the Condors Kevin Bartl on the All- New KGEO AM1230, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 22: Make sure to catch G Yutaka Fukufuji and F Evan Kotsopoulos live on ABC23's No Bull Morning as reporter Crystal Figuero takes on Fukufuji in a shootout and the three discuss the bobblehead giveaway and Hockey-Thon.

Friday, Feb. 22: Condors player Tom Boudreau will be the guest Celebrity Reader at Berkshire Elementary School from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. After reading to the young hockey fans, Boudreau will take photos and sign autographs for the students.

Friday, Feb. 22: At 11:59 p.m. the 4th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon officially gets underway at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. The Hockey-Thon is a 41-hour hockey marathon to raise awareness and proceeds to help in the fight against breast cancer. Last year the Hockey- Thon raised over $61,000.

Saturday, Feb. 23: The Bakersfield Condors return to The Nest for Bobblehead Giveaway Night. The first 2,000 fans, 12-and- under, will receive a Yutaka Fukufuji bobblehead, courtesy of ABC23 and Carl's Jr. Doors open at 6 p.m. Puck drops at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 24: The Condors wrap up the Hockey-Thon at noon with an Alumni Game featuring former Condors Kevin Barrett, Jamie Cooke, Quinn Fair, Scott Hay, Glen Mears, Paul Rosebush, Paul Willett and others as they take on former Falcons players. Following the Alumni Game the current Condors take on the Fresno Falcons beginning at 2 p.m. After the game all season ticket holders are invited to skate with the team (rental skates available for $5). Sunday is also a Kids Club Day and a T.H.I.N.K. game, all Kids Club members get into the game for free as well as students who participated in the T.H.I.N.K. program. Doors open at 11:45 a.m.
