Condors Care-A-Van to visit the city of Shafter this Thursday

Condors Booster Club fundraising to make a big boom

This Week in Condorstown:

Wednesday, July 1:
Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will appear as the featured reader at the Family Story Time hour at the Southwest Library branch, located at 8301 Ming Ave. at 10:30 a.m.  The Colonel will act out scenes from a children's book as the story is read aloud.  The Condors will also bring Condors merchandise for all the children in attendance.  All summer long kids who take part in the summer reading program can earn free Condors tickets.

July 1 - July 4:
The Condors Booster Club's annual fireworks fundraiser will be open on the corner of Coffee Road and Riverlakes Drive from noon on July 1 until midnight on July 4.  Stop by to pick up all of your fireworks for the 4th of July and help support the Condors Booster Club, a nonprofit, independent organization dedicated to supporting hockey in Bakersfield.

Thursday, July 2:

The second Condors Care-A-Van of the summer will be in Shafter.  The Care-A-Van, which brings Condors hockey to surrounding Kern County communities while collecting donations for Goodwill Industries, will first stop at Pappy's Coffee Shop, located at 300 E. Laredo Hwy. from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. where Condors F Andrew Ianiero will be signing autographs and greeting fans.

Afterwards, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Condors will turn the Activities Center, located at 269 Poso Ave., into a Condors hockey extravaganza.  Ianiero will give a brief demonstration of hockey gear, stick handling and shooting.  Participants are then invited to test out what they learned in the Condors inflatable slapshot.  Children will also be able to win Condors gear by spinning the Condors prize wheel and can play on the Condors bounce house.  This event is free, but participants are strongly encouraged to make a donation of gently used clothing or household items to Goodwill.

Week In Review:
Condors mascot Baby Cal visited Stockdale Christian Summer School, playing dodge ball and signing autographs for the students.  On Wednesday, Colonel Claw'd served as the featured reader at the Family Story Time hour at the Northeast Library branch. Colonel Claw'd and other members of the Condors Front Office staff spent a few hours on Friday cleaning Ming Avenue from Old River Road to Gosford Road as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Check out Colonel's Summer Diary:
