Condors poised to run the table in "Greatest Thing About Bakersfield"

Bakersfield Life Magazine has recently announced the "64 Greatest Things About Bakersfield" tournament. This 64-seed reader poll pits Bakersfield's favorite people, places and things in a single elimination, six-round bracket tournament to establish the greatest thing about Bakersfield. In the first round, Condors Hockey is matched up against the Beale Library. Click here to vote for Condors Hockey and your other favorite things about Bakersfield. The first round of voting ends August 3 and those that make it to the second round will be announced in the August edition of Bakersfield Life.

This Week In Condorstown:

Tuesday, July 22: Condors mascot Baby Cal will visit McAuliffe Elementary School for their summer program located at 8900 Westwold Drive, starting at 1:30 p.m. The Condors will be on hand to inform the kids about hockey and demonstrate the importance of sports safety by dressing students in hockey gear.

Mark Your Calendars:

Tuesday, July 29: Condors mascot Baby Cal will be at Williams Elementary School for their summer program located at 5601 Harris Road, starting at 1:30 p.m. The students will learn about safety, get to try on protective hockey gear and play different games with Baby Cal.

Thursday, July 31: The Condors will travel to Frazier Park with Goodwill Industries for the next Condors Care-A-Van. This road trip will be the third Care-A-Van of the summer and features Condors D Scott Balan, mascot Baby Cal, games and prizes. The Care-A-Van will visit Ace Hardware ( 3320 Mt Pinos Way) from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by a trip to Camp Condor from 2 to 4 p.m. The Care-A-Van is designed to bring Condors hockey and Goodwill's mission to the outlying communities of Kern County and collect donations in the process. Those that donate gently used clothing and other goods will receive a voucher for free admission to a Condors game in October.

Friday, Aug. 1: Condors D Tyler Scott will be on hand at the Delano Regional Medical Center's clothing and canned food drive. Scott will be encouraging community members to donate goods to the drive as well as signing autographs and posing for pictures from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Delano Regional Medical Center is located at 1401 Garces Hwy.

Saturday, Aug. 2: The Condors Care-A- Van will hit the road again, this time traversing the desert to attend the inaugural Sportsfest in Ridgecrest. Sports enthusiasts can learn to shoot from a Condors player in the Condors Slapshot, while kids can play in the Condors bounce house, meet Condors mascot Baby Cal and win Condors gear. Additionally, anyone that donates items for Goodwill at the Care-A-Van will receive a voucher for free admission to a Condors game in October.

Saturday, Aug. 2: Condors F Sean Venedam will attend a Carl's Jr. remodeling celebration at 4800 White Lane from noon to 1 p.m. Venedam will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures. We dare you to challenge him to a $6 Burger eating competition.
