Condors to promote education at Sylvan Learning Centers and Centennial Elementary

This Week in Condorstown:

Monday, Feb. 11: Tune in to 98.5 The Fox to catch Head Coach Marty Raymond with Anne Kelly starting at 3 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 11: Condors F Jason Kostadine will visit the Sylvan Learning Centers at 2720 Calloway Drive at 3:30 p.m., then at 5115 Ming Avenue at 4:00 p.m. Kostadine will sign autographs and encourage students to continue to study and try their best in school.

Tuesday, Feb. 12: The Condors look to extend their two-game winning streak against the Western Conference-leading Las Vegas Wranglers for No Promotion Sponsored by Nobody Night. This game will be the first time in the Condors 10-year history that there will be a game without a promotional tie to draw in fans, just exciting Condors hockey against their heated rival from Vegas. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 13: Turn to Channel 29 to catch Condors F Mark Derlago at noon, as he speaks about the Condors second half of the season as well as the 4th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon.

Friday, Feb. 15: A Condors player (TBD) and mascot Colonel Claw'd will attend Centennial Elementary School, located at 15200 Westdale Drive from 11:30 to 12:10 p.m. to visit with students, sign autographs and encourage the students to always try their best in school.

Week In Review:

On Tuesday, Feb. 5 the Condors held the Help For The Homeless Canned Food Collection, which resulted in the donation of 1,731 pounds of non- perishable food items. With more than 1,700 pounds of food items collected this year, the grand total, which spans the 10-year history of the Condors, grew to over 12,600 lbs. The Boy Scouts of America collected the food for Partnership Food Bank and Golden Empire Gleaners, who in-turn distribute the food to the hungry of Kern County.

On Saturday, Feb. 9 the Bakersfield Condors held their Hollywood Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction. A grand total of $30,700 was raised for the Children's Miracle Network to help purchase life- saving equipment for Bakersfield Memorial Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Condors jersey auctions began during the team's first season of existence and have surpassed half a million dollars with a total of $511,062 raised for charitable organizations.

Mark Your Calendars:

Tuesday, Feb. 19: Mascot Colonel Claw'd will visit the Childtime Children's Center, at 10 a.m. The Colonel will greet children and act out parts of a story for the youngsters as their teacher reads the story aloud.

Tuesday, Feb. 19: Mascot Colonel Claw'd will walk with students from Highland Elementary School from 11 to 12:30 p.m. as part of the students lunch time walk program to promote exercise and healthy living.

Wednesday, Feb. 20: A Condors player (TBD) will read to students at Van Horn Elementary School during their Celebrity Reader Program, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 22: A Condors player (TBD) will be the guest celebrity reader at Berkshire Elementary School from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
