With Pensacola dropping out from the East has the league recently thought that maybe they should look at changing their name?
Jun 26, 2008
The ECHL, also referred to as the 'E' in some hockey circles, just celebrated its 20th anniversary as the premier AA hockey league in
North America. While certainly the teams that formerly made up the West Coast Hockey League have been great additions for the most part, the letters ECHL hold a lot of credibility in the hockey world, and renaming the league, while it admittedly would make sense locally for the teams out west, would cause a certain amount of confusion to players, scouts, coaches, agents, and others relating to hockey teams both above and below us. Also noteworthy is that there are still less teams out west (10) than in the east (13), with
Toledo and
Columbia both planned for 2009-10. Besides, we like playing in the Extra Cool Hockey League J
