Condors Drop A Close One To Fresno, 3-2

Team Takes Flight To Victoria For Three Games Against Salmon Kings Starting Wednesday

FRESNO, Calif. - The Condors lost to the Fresno Falcons Saturday night, 3-2, in front of 5,788 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. The Falcons were able to trickle a deflected pass past Jamie Hodson for the game-winner late in the third.

Things started off with a bang as two fights erupted within the first five seconds of the opening period. Spencer Carbery and Luke Stauffacher got into it off the opening draw, and then Evan Kotsopoulos and Josh Ciocco dropped the gloves just two seconds later.

The Falcons (2-1-2, 6 points) struck first at 7:24 of the first period, as Oren Eizenman snuck a trickling shot past Hodson to make the score 1-0.

The Condors (3-1-1, 7 points) held tough and kept the score 1-0 for the remainder of the opening period, highlighted by the period's third fight, breaking out between Justin Chwedoruk and Igor Gongalsky.

The Condors' offense then started clicking, as Steven Later tied the game at 7:25 of the second with a wrist shot past Mayotte on a power play, assisted by Brett Lutes. The Condors struck again on another power play just 35 seconds later when Kevin Truelson snapped a top-shelf shot into the net, giving the Condors the lead. Sean Venedam and Tim Konsorada earned assists on the play.

Fresno responded with Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu's goal at the 16:18 mark of the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Fresno then put the game winner in at the 18:16 mark of the third period, as Gongalsky's centering pass was deflected in front of the net and bounced into the Condors goal, making the score 3- 2.
