Condors Erupt over Jackals, 6-2

Team Heads Home to Bakersfield for Three against the Wranglers this Week

ELMIRA, NY. - The Bakersfield Condors (4-6-2, 10 points) power play scored four times en route to a 6-2 trouncing of the Elmira Jackals (5-4-1, 11 points) at First Arena in Elmira, in front of 3,487 fans Sunday evening.  Reagan Leslie scored twice in the winning effort.

For the first time on this East Coast road trip, the Condors opened up the scoring.  Leslie, playing as a forward tonight due to injuries, slipped home his first goal of the season at 10:34.  Bakersfield extended the lead in the final minutes of the frame when Steven Later pinched in from the right point and snapped home his second of the season, unassisted, on the power play at 18:29.  Shots were 10-10 in the stanza.

The Jackals got on the board early in the middle frame.  Jon Landry netted his first of the season, and first of his career, sending a blast through traffic that beat Yutaka Fukufuji high to the glove side to make it 2-1.  The penalties picked up in the period, with 11 infractions called and seven power plays handed out.  It was on the man advantage that the Condors pushed their lead back to two when a drive by Joe Dustin tickled the twine for his third goal of the campaign at 14:54.

Frank Littlejohn again cut the deficit to one for Elmira by scoring on the power play just 2:10 into the third period.  But the Condors power play answered with a pair.  Sean Venedam potted his third of the season at 7:32 and Tim Konsorada added to the lead with his team-leading sixth of the year at 11:39.  Later, the Jackals pulled their netminder with over five minutes left in regulation and going on a power play, but Leslie ended up firing it the length of the ice for his second of the game.  His goal served as the last of the night, paving the way to a 6-2 win for the Condors.
