Condors can't hold back Salmon Kings in 4-3 loss in Game 2
Series shifts to Bakersfield for Game 3 on Tuesday night
VICTORIA, BC - F Ryan Wade scored three times, including two in the third period, to lead the Victoria Salmon Kings to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 6,448 fans at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria Saturday night. The best-of-seven series is now tied at one game apiece, and heads back to Bakersfield for the next three games.
For the second straight game, it was a rookie giving the Condors a 1-0 lead. LW Chris Di Ubaldo netted his first career playoff goal at 12:28 of the opening stanza, burying a wrist shot from the low slot that went past Salmon Kings G Billy Thompson. Victoria led in shots 13-8, while controlling much of the play. G Yutaka Fukufuji made several strong saves for the Condors, picking up where he left off on Thursday night when he recorded 39 saves for Bakersfield in a Game 1 victory.
The two teams exchanged tallies early in the second period. F Ryan Wade notched his first of the playoffs to tie the game at 5:51. But less than two minutes later, F Andrew Ianiero regained the Bakersfield lead with his first goal of the playoffs at 7:39. F Alexander Naurov, who assisted on the first Condors goal, potted a goal of his own on the power play at 13:10 to make it 3-1 after 40 minutes.
Victoria stormed back in the third period, and erased the deficit with two goals during a Condors power play. Wade recorded both goals, just 21 seconds apart at 7:32 and 7:53, to complete the hat trick. With just 3:30 left in regulation, Victoria scored to take its first lead of the series with a C Chris St. Jacques tally, making it 4-3. The Condors pulled Fukufuji late in the game, but could not get the equalizer.
