Condors drop Wranglers, 5-2
Guyer scores twice; same two teams battle Wednesday in Bako
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - T
he Bakersfield Condors (32-21-4-1, 69pts) received two goals from C Gino Guyer and 34 saves from G Timo Pielmieier to take a 5-2 win over the Las Vegas Wranglers (26-26-4-3, 59pts) in front of 3,645 fans at Rabobank Arena Tuesday night.
Neither team got on the board in the opening stanza. Pielmeier started his night with nine saves in the period, while Wranglers G Joel Gistedt also stopped nine shots.
The Condors grabbed the lead with three straight goals in the middle period. F Andrew Ianiero, D Eric Regan (on the power play) and Guyer all lit the lamp to give the Condors a commanding 3-0 advantage by the latter portion of the period. Vegas got on the board in the period with a late power play tally by C Adam Miller. Shots were 12-10 in favor of Bakersfield in the period.
The Wranglers cut into the Condors lead just 44 seconds into the third with a goal by C Josh Prudden. But Guyer helped them to maintain the advantage, potting his second of the night at 10:05 by scoring on a shorthanded breakaway. RW Ryan Menei iced the win away with an empty netter in the final minute.
F Andrew Ianiero scored his 99th career Condors goal tonight. He can join only four players in team history to crack the century mark in Bakersfield history (Steve Dowhy, Jamie Cooke, Paul Willett, Paul Rosebush)... G Timo Pielmeier is now tied for the ECHL lead with 21 wins... Bakersfield went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Las Vegas was 1-for-9... Three Stars: 1. Gino Guyer (BAK); 2. Timo Pielmeier (BAK); 3.
