Condors sign d-man and tough winger
Roster stands at four players for 2009-10
BAKERSFIELD Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have signed D Pierre-Luc Lessard (luh-SAHRD) and F Erick Lizon (LEE-zahn). The announcement was made today by Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Lessard, 21, comes to the Condors after being selected in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators in 2006. A five-year veteran of the Canadian junior hockey ranks, he recorded 42 goals and 134 assists for 176 points in 307 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey
League. Lessard has recorded at least 10 goals in each of the past three seasons.
The 6-foot 180-lb native of Thetford Mines, Quebec, led all Baie-Comeau (QMJHL) defensemen and was sixth in the league with 52 points in 67 games during the 2008-09 season. In each of his five seasons in the QMJHL, Lessard set career highs in points.
Lessard spent parts of two seasons with Gatineau, Prince Edward Island and Baie-Comeau. During the 2005-06 playoffs, while with Gatineau, Lessard ranked second among the team's defense with 12 points in 17 games.
"I'm very happy and excited to play with the Condors," said Lessard. "I'm ready to make the step to the ECHL after playing five seasons in juniors. I can't wait to play there. I consider myself a good two-way player, who will play physically when I have to. I don't know much about Bakersfield, but everything has looked good so far on Google."

Lizon, 23, has made a name for himself at the pro level, amassing more than 100 PIM in both of his two full professional seasons. In 2008-09, with Laredo of the CHL, Lizon produced 7 goals and 9 assists, along with 115 PIM in
60 games. With Rockford of the UHL in 2006-07, Lizon finished with 137 PIM in 52 games.
Prior to his pro career, the 6-foot, 4-inch, 205-lbs Kitchner, Ontario native recorded 14 goals, 20 assists and 230 PIM in 103 games with Victoriaville of QMJHL. In 2005-06, Lizon led his team in PIM.
"I'm really excited and heard a lot of good things about the Condors and their coach," said Lizon. "I've been told it's a great place to play hockey and has strong fan support. Every night I'm going to go out, be physical and be the hardest worker on the ice. And whenever it needs to happen, I'll be willing to drop the gloves. My most memorable fight ever was against Steve MacIntyre, who is now in the NHL. He gave me a good licking, but I learned a lot."
