Scooby-Doo, Laker Girls and Soap Dispensers highlight Condors promotional schedule!
Teddy Bear Toss, bobbleheads and other favorites will return
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have put together the promotional schedule for the 2008-09 campaign, featuring many annual favorites as well as new events and appearances.
Several new events highlight the promo schedule, including a visit from the legendary Scooby-Doo, making his first appearance ever in Condorstown on Saturday, Dec. 13 against Las Vegas. It's been years since the Oakland Raiderettes performed in Bakersfield, and they will appear on Saturday, Nov. 22 when the Condors host Phoenix. Fans can keep cheering with a visit from the LA Laker Girls the day after Christmas, Friday, Dec. 26 when Stockton comes to town.
Other new promotions this season include a 1,000 Gallons of Gas Giveaway (Jan. 9), Zamboni Pillow Giveaway (Jan. 10), Mascot Soap Dispenser Giveaway (Jan. 16), and Action Figurine Giveaway (Feb. 6).
Among the annual promotions, the fifth annual Field Trip Day/Businessperson's Special will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against Victoria. This game features a 10:30 a.m. puck drop. The 10th annual Teddy Bear Toss, which last season played in front of a standing room-only crowd of 8,895 (the second largest in Condors history), will be on Saturday, Nov. 29 against Idaho.
The ZOOperstars (Feb. 7) and The Veggie Tales (Feb. 21) will both return this season, as will Dora the Explorer (Mar. 1) and SpongeBob Squarepants (Apr. 4). The fifth annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-thon game is Feb. 22 against Alaska at 2 p.m., with over $160,000 raised for Links for Life in the event's previous four years.
Two Condors Bobblehead Nights are scheduled - one on Friday, Jan. 23 against Alaska and the other on Friday, Mar. 20 against Utah. Three Jersey Raffle & Auction Nights are scheduled as well: Saturday, Nov. 8, Saturday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Mar. 14, with jersey themes yet to be decided.
"It's fun for us to put this together," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "Our goal is to make the season as fun as possible for the whole family, in addition to enjoying Condors hockey. We've brought in some new events that the fans will love and kept some of our more popular promotions as well. We're ready to drop the puck!"
Other promotions will eventually be placed as well, including poster giveaways and High School/College Student ID Nights. The complete promotional schedule is listed below:
