Victoria Gets Last-Minute Trickler from Goldie, Top Condors 3-2
Coach's Show from
Victoria Thursday at 6 p.m.
VICTORIA,
BC. - The Condors dropped the game to the Victoria Salmon Kings Wednesday night, 3-2, in front of 3,601 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in
Victoria,
British Columbia. The Condors lost their second game in a row as a result of a trickling puck finding its way into the
Bakersfield net.
The Condors (3-2-1, 7 points) took the lead first, as Eric Sonnenberg put a short-handed goal past Julien Ellis to put the Condors up 1-0 at the 12:20 mark of the first period. Evan Kotsopoulos set Sonnenberg up with a tape-to-tape pass from behind
Victoria's net and Sonnenberg finished it off by slapping the puck into the twine. David Kudelka also registered an assist on the play.
The Salmon Kings (3-2-0, 6 points) came right back with a power play goal from Ash Goldie at 15:55 of the first, assisted by Milan Gajic and Dylan Yeo.
The Condors wasted no time in the second period, taking the lead on a Kevin Truelson wrist shot from just inside the left point that found its way into the top shelf of the Salmon Kings' goal, making the score 2-1 Condors. Spencer Carbery and Sonnenberg assisted the goal.
Victoria responded later in the period with Goldie's second power-play score of the game, assisted by Kiel McLeod and Matt Kelly. The
Victoria goal came at the 13:15 mark of the second.
With 13 seconds remaining in regulation and the game still tied at 2-2, the Salmon Kings were able to direct a wildly-bouncing puck past Jamie Hodson for the game-winner. Goldie was credited with the goal, giving him the hat trick on the game.
