Condors acquire Campbell and Warkentin for Dame-Malka

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Matt O’Dette have announced that the team has acquired F Max Campbell and D Dale Warkentin from the Toledo Walleye for D Olivier Dame-Malka.

Campbell, 25, had 20 points (11g-9a) in 30 games for Toledo thisseason. The Strathroy, Ontario native played 33 games last year for the rival Stockton Thunder where he posted 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points after being acquired from the Greenville Road Warriors. He made a big contribution to the Thunder in the playoffs with 10 points (5g-5a) in 8 games.

The second year pro played his college hockey for Western Michigan University. With the Broncos, Campbell amassed 107 points (46g-61a) in 154 games played over four seasons. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round (138 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The other acquisition coming to Condorstown is Warkentin, a 6’5″, 205 lbs. rookie from Fork River, Manitoba. In seven games this year, he has recorded two assists. Prior to turning pro, the 22-year old played four seasons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and had 133 points (33g-110a) in 215 games.

Heading to Toledo is Dame-Malka who had 12 points (5g-7a) in 23 games played. He was suspended by the ECHL today for three games as a result of his elbowing penalty in a game against Idaho on Saturday.

Most of the jerseys worn by the Condors Saturday were bid upon after the game. Two of the jerseys – G Scott Greenham and F Liam Huculak – will be put up online next week. Stay tuned for bidding details. The proceeds will benefit League of Dreams.

In addition, a Chris Kushneriuk jersey was auctioned off separately, with the proceeds going directly toward the Condors winger’s medical bills as he battles cancer. The jersey brought in a staggering $5,000, just $200 shy of the all-time Condors jersey auction record.
