I have several questions…
From: Elaine
Comments: I have several questions and if they can’t be answered on the website could someone call me and provide the answers.
1. Isn’t Brighthouse showing any Sat. or Sun games this year? What happened?
2. When was the last time there was a hat trick on home ice? Are there stats that can be shared, say for the last 5 or 6 years?
3. When was the last time the Condors scored an empty net goal on home ice? Are there stats on this for the last 5 or 6 years?
4. I read in today’s Californian that Ontario just received a NHL player from the Kings. I know Ontario is a feeding team for the Kings and I know about the NHL lockout. But is this fair? Is there a limit to the number of NHL players and AHL players a team can have? It seems rather unfair to those of us to who are independent. Kind of shifts the game and causes struggles for team such as ours. Of the 8
(?) teams we play which teams have this advantage and how many players on each team are involved? Any progress on the NHL talks so all players can get back to playing for their respective teams?
thanks for the answers and your time.
Reply: So many questions, so little time. It’s a good thing The Mailbag Guy gets paid by the hour…
1. Yes, they are doing games, but it’s a much smaller schedule they are doing. This information is on our website here, under the MEDIA dropdown, called BROADCAST INFORMATION.
2. The last time there was a hat trick at Rabobank Arena was over two years ago, Nov. 4, 2010. Pascal Morency scored three times in a 5-4 win against Alaska. The Condors Media Guide is very thorough, and actually dedicates a page entirely to hat tricks. It is a PDF and can be downloaded for free on our website, also under the MEDIA dropdown.
3. Although the media guide is thorough, it doesn’t have information on empty netters so you can’t look that up. But our last one was late last season, Mar. 3, 2012, when Peter Boyd sealed up a 6-3 win against Colorado on the road.
4. Ontario is affiliated with the Kings, but the Reign signing Kyle Clifford is independent from that affiliation. There is no limit to the number of NHL or AHL players that can play on an ECHL roster. And as for your other question, by the time you read this there may be other updates to the NHL Lockout situation, so I’ll let you go research that on your own. There is plenty of information out there, although you may want to start researching Canadian newspaper websites to get the most up-to-date news.
