Lagace gets called up to Rochester; Condors sign Morley

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Matt O’Dette announced today that F Jacob Lagace has been recalled by the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL) to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). 

Lagace left the team today for Abbotsford, British Columbia where the Americans play on Tuesday and Wednesday against the Abbotsford Heat. 

“We’re happy that he is getting this opportunity,” O’Dette said. “He has worked hard and deserves this chance to play at the next level.”

The 23-year old Lagace is third on the Condors in scoring with 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 39 games played. He has four goals and four assists for eight points over his last seven games played, including two assists to help the Condors tie Colorado late in the third period on Saturday night.
A 5th round (#134 overall) selection by the Sabres in 2008, Lagace played 116 games in the AHL over the past two seasons for the Sabres’ top affiliate in Portland (2010-11) and Rochester (2011-12). In that time, the St. Hyacinthe, Quebec native amassed 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points including playing three playoff games with the Pirates in 2011. 

Condors sign F Jake Morley
In other transaction news, the Condors announced today that they have signed F Jake Morley. The 24-year old from Ogdensburg, New York played 30 games with the Fort Worth Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) with one goal and eight assists for nine points. He also suited up in six games with the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) this season and picked up an assist.

The 6’2″, 216 lbs. physical forward played four seasons at Clarkson University (NCAA) where he was a teammate of Condors F Scott Freeman and C Nicholas Tremblay.  In 137 games, he scored 20 goals and added 30 assists for 50 points while serving as a captain his senior season. After completing his senior season, Morley played three games with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

y was named a runner-up for the ECHL Rookie of the Month award for the month of January. Tremblay played 11 games recording six goals and eight assists for 14 points in his first month with the team. To view the full release, click here.
