The Condors were strong in the opening period and scored the first two goals of the game. F Francis Verreault, who missed Saturday’s game injured, returned tonight and lit the lamp just 103 seconds intothe game, burying a centering feed from RW Scott Freeman for his 13th of the season. F Brett Perlini broke out of the penalty box and scored on a breakaway at 15:03 to make it 2-0.
Bakersfield extended the lead early in the second. Verreault rapped in his second of the night at 3:06 to give the home team a 3-0 advantage. Freeman picked up his third assist of the night on the goal. Stockton finally beat G Scott Greenham with a power play marker at 5:20, but the Condors goalie maintained the lead, stopping 13 shots in the second.
Stockton cut further into the lead less than two minutes into the third with C Eric Hunter burying a wraparound. At 7:33 the lead was gone, as RW Maxime Boisclair slipped a shot under Greenham for the equalizer for Stockton. But the Condors prevailed late, with 3:22 left in regulation to push back in front for good. Freeman got his stick on a shot from D Kyle Haines and redirected it past G Tyler Bunz for the game winner.
