Condors lose a heartbreaker, 1-0

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – G Scott Greenham stood on his head with a 44-save performance, but it couldn’t help the Bakersfield Condors (19-40-2-3, 43pts) as they fell 1-0 to the Ontario Reign (42-15-3-3, 90pts) Saturday night at Rabobank Arena.
Highlights from the night

Post-game comments from O’Dette

The two clubs skated to a scoreless tie in the first period, though Ontario put up 20 shots on Greenham. The frame featured plenty of physical play, one fight, and big hits on both sides.

Ontario held a 12-8 shot advantage in the middle frame, but Greenham and Reign G Dusty Carlson both were equal to the task, keeping it scoreless. Both the Condors and Reign had their share of power play chances through the first 40 minutes as well, but they didn’t help break the scoreless tie.

Greenham continued to make save after save, but was finally bested with just 4:23 left to go in the hockey game. Rookie scoring leader F Mario Lamoureux slammed in his 24th of the season off a feed from behind the net. The Condors put together a furious finish, but could not find the back of the net.
