Brett Lutes returns to Bakersfield
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors announced today that the team has agreed to terms with LW Brett Lutes for the 2013-14 season. Lutes becomes the first player added to the team’s roster.
“Brett’s a guy who I am familiar with and will be a veteran leader,”
said Condors Head Coach Troy Mann. “He will bring a consistent effort and be a solid, two-way player this season.”
Lutes, 31, returns to Bakersfield where he played three seasons beginning with his rookie campaign in 2004-05 and then back-to-back seasons in 2006-07 and 2007-08. With the Condors, Lutes played 201 games, scoring 74 goals and adding 95 assists for 169 points. His best season came in ’06-’07 when he led the team in goals with 34 and finished second on the team in scoring with 70 points in 67 games.

A veteran of 463 regular season games, Lutes has played in the ECHL, Central Hockey League, United Hockey League, and Germany’s Second Division. Last season, the Riverview, New Brunswick native split the season between Denver and Bloomington in the CHL with 12 goals and 33 assists for 45 points in 48 games.
“The opportunity to come back to Bakersfield and play for the Condors is huge,” said Lutes. “The community, the fans, and the small-town feel are all something I’ve missed these past few years. I think coach is going to bring a new work ethic to this club and I am excited.”
