Speedy winger Nikiforov acquired by Condors
Former Grizzly will join the team in time for this weekend’s games
Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today that LW/RW Vladimir Nikiforov has been acquired from the Florida Everblades in exchange for future considerations.
Nikiforov, 23, is in his third professional season and spent the last two campaigns skating for the Uta h Grizzlies. He set career marks last season with 19 goals and 51 points in 61 games for the Western Conference foe. As a rookie in 2008-09, Nikiforov posted 10g-23a-33pts in 45 ECHL games, and also appeared in 19 American Hockey League games with the New York Islanders affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, notching a goal and five points.
The son of a former Russian league player, Nikiforov was born in Russia but raised in Hauppage, NY, on Long Island. He capped off his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League with a 67 point (25g-42a) campaign split between Barrie and Sarnia (51 games). He had yet to record a point in three games with the Everblades this season. Nikiforov played alongside current Condors D Evan Stoflet in Utah and also RW Pascal Morency in Bridgeport.
