Condors rematch with Alaska on Wednesday
Head to Stockton for 3-in-3 this Weekend

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors finished a tough three game stint that included a game in Las Vegas on Thursday before playing back-to-back games at home against Stockton and Alaska on Friday and Saturday. After going 2-1-0-0 last week, the Condors are now 3-3-0-0 (6 points) and are tied for 1st in the Pacific Division.

Condors 2 @ LAS VEGAS 1

For the first time this season, the Condors surrendered the  first goal of the game on a deflected pass that bounced past G Josh TAdam Naglichordjman at the end of the first period. RW Pascal Morency knotted up the score just before the half-way point of the second period with a one-timer off a nice pass from C Adam Naglich. C Rylan Kaip followed up with a goal on a breakaway after intercepting a D-to-D pass in his own zone. The Condors and Tordjman blanked Vegas in both the second and third periods to grab the 2-1 victory.

Friday, Oct. 29

CONDORS 5 vs. Stockton 4, SO

The Condors got out to a fast start with two goals before the first period was half-way over. RW Carter Smith potted his second of the season on a rebound and F Andrew Ianiero increased the lead less than two minutes later. Bakersfield put up two more goals in the second period on a deflection from RW Erick Lizon and a power play goal off the stick of RW Vladimir Nikiforov, and the Condors led 4-0 going into the third period. Stockton exploded for four third period goals to force overtime, where neither team was able to light the lamp. The Condors prevailed 3-1 in the shootout with goals from Nikiforov, C Rylan Kaip, and LW Miki Suoraniemi. G Peter Hirsch only allowed one goal on the four shootout shots he faced.

Saturday, Oct. 30

Alaska 3 vs. CONDORS 0

Attn: 4,432

The Aces ruined the Condors chances for a perfect weekend by jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first ten minutes of the game and holding on to earn the shutout. Bakesrfield could not solve G Adam Courchaine despite posting their highest shot total of the season, and Alaska added an empty net goal to secure a 3-0 victory.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

  • G Josh Tordjman has only allowed goals in two of the last six periods he has appeared in goal. He ranks 4th in GAA and 2nd in Save percentage in the ECHL.
  • G Peter Hirsch earned his first win of the season on Saturday against Stockton. It was his first Condors win since December 5, 2003, a span of 6 years and 327 days.
  • RW Stephane Goulet missed all three games with a lower body injury and remains on the 3-day IR.
  • F Andrew Ianiero played in his 400th Condors game in Las Vegas on Thursday, and also played both home games over the weekend. The Condors record is held by Paul Rosebush at 416 games.
  • D Evan Stoflet and D Jay Cascalenda both recorded their first points of the year on Friday night against Stockton. Stoflet had two assists in the game while Cascalenda picked up a helper on the first Condors goal. Both players also finished +2 in the game.
  • After surrendering 4 power play goals last Saturday in Utah, the Condors have killed 10 straight penalties and did not allow a power play goal all weekend.
  • The Condors will face the Aces again on Wednesday night. Alaska has not surrendered a goal since the second period of an OT win over Idaho on Oct. 23, and has played 146:41 minutes without giving up a goal.

ON THE DOCKET:

The Condors are home again on Wednesday night before a three Vladimir Nikiforovgame road trip on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Stockton. Wednesday’s game at the Mercy and Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena against the Aces will have the Oakland Raiderettes in attendance, sponsored by 92.5 La Campesina, Bud Light, and Mauricio’s. The Raiderettes will be performing on the ice and will be available to take pictures and sign autographs in the Condors Photo Booth as well. The doors open at 6 p.m. with the drop of the puck at 7 p.m.
