Bakersfield exploded to take control of the game in the second period, as Morency cracked the Aces shutout streak with a goal just 15 seconds into the period. It was followed up by two more goals in the next 1:21 seconds, the first from C Rylan Kaip and the next by D Joey Ryan, as the Condors rocketed to a 3-1 advantage in the second. F Chris Langkow brought the Aces back to within one, until Morency added his second of the night with a one-timer after a faceoff win in the final two minutes . The Condors led 4-2 going into the third period.

Langkow kept the Aces within striking range when he put home his second of the night on a power play halfway through the third period to draw the Aces back to within a goal. Morency answered once again by scoring into an empty net with just over a minute left in the game. The Aces made it interesting by scoring with the goalie pulled, but the Condors killed off a late period penalty to skate away with the 5-4 victory.
