Condors add Trukhno; Ryan heads to the AHL
Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, have announced the signing of C Vyacheslav Trukhno. Additionally, D Joey Ryan has signed a professional try out (PTO) with the Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League. The announcements were made by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Trukhno, 23, has spent the last three seasons under contract to the Edmonton Oilers, skating with the Springfield Falcons, their AHL affiliate. He compiled 87 points (33g-54a) in those campaigns, ranking in the top six on the team in scoring each season. The Moscow native played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with PEI and Gatineau, prior to turning pro. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Oilers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Ryan, 23, has been off to a strong start with the Condors, posting six points (2g-4a) in 12 games. This trip to the AHL is not his first, as the Stoneham, Mass., native has played 43 games with the Toronto Marlies over the last two seasons. The Barons, an affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, are in action against the Texas Stars tonight.
What Marty says:
“If you can get an AHL player of his caliber it would be a welcome addition to any team. It’s great to get a guy with his skill level and mobility and head for the game. As for Joey, we’re very happy for him to get this opportunity. His hard work has paid off and we hope that his stint in the AHL is as long as it can be for him. Hopefully this will open some eyes on our team for guys to see that it’s feasible to go up to the next level.”
