CONDORS SET TEDDY BEAR TOSS RECORD
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors smashed the record for teddy bears collected at the team’s 19th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Saturday night with 10,549 stuffed animals thrown on the ice. The all-time total is now at 121,395 stuffed animals donated to local non-profit organizations.
C Brad Malone scored the goal at 2:15 of the second period shorthanded in front of a sellout crowd of 8,862. The Condors expect another capacity crowd for the team’s 10:30 a.m. Field Trip Day game on Thursday.
THEY SAID IT:
“We are fortunate to be able to play a game for a living and to see the impact that goal had is pretty incredible,” Malone said. “It goes to show you the support of this community and the city of Bakersfield for giving back. Thank you to everyone involved and this will definitely be a memory I’ll have the rest of my life.”
“The bears will be donated to over four dozen non-profits here in Kern County,” said Della Hodson, President, United Way of Kern County. “They’re used as gifts over the holidays and in times of crisis.”
