Condors fall to Wranglers in shootout, 6-5
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Despite never trailing in the game, the Bakersfield Condors (21-18-1-1, 44pts) dropped a shootout to the Las Vegas Wranglers (25-11-2-1, 53pts) in front of 2,764 fans at Orleans Arena on Sunday afternoon.
C Adam Naglich grabbed the lead for Bakersfield when he deflected a shot past G Michael Ouzas just 49 seconds into the first period, putting the Condors up 1-0. F Jerry Pollestrone answered with a breakaway goal during 4-on-4 action as he tied the game at one a piece with 15:52 remaining in the first. The score remained tied going into the first intermission.
A flurry of goals marked the opening of the second period, as D Joey Ryan scored at 3:36 with a low wrister from the point. The Wranglers answered with a rebound goal off the stick of D Eddie DelGrosso to knot the score at 2-2. Naglich put home his second of the game shorthanded, but the Wranglers struck back with a goal from D Jaime Fritsch to bring the score back to 3-3. The Condors were able to snag the lead just before the end of the period when F Bobby Robins tipped in a shot from the left wall with 1:08 left in the frame.
Las Vegas tied the game early in the third period, bringing the score to 4-4 on a goal by C Colin Long. Bakersfield regained the lead when D J.F. David ripped a shot from the top of slot, as the Condors led 5-4. The Wranglers battled back one final time when C Chris Higgins deflected a shot into the top corner of the net, sending the game into OT.
Neither team in scored in OT, and Vegas went on to win the shootout, earning the eventual 6-5 victory. The Condors scored once on four shots, and the Wranglers scored on three of their five.

The Condors return home to host the ECHL All-Star Classic on Wednesday, Jan. 26, when they take on a team of ECHL All-Stars.

The Hall of Fame Luncheon, presented by the Bakersfield Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and BFL Canada, features keynote speaker Dave Poulin, who is a former NHL All-Star and the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and inducts the fourth class of players, officials and builders into the ECHL Hall of Fame. Tickets are $40 for an individual, and $250 for a table of seven, and every table will be joined by an All-Star participant. The HOF Luncheon is from Noon – 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
