CONDORSTOWN, Calif. –  The Pacific Division leading Bakersfield Condors host the San Jose Barracuda in a matchup of the two top teams in the division on Dignity Health Home Ice at Rabobank Arena. A night ago, nearly 7,000 fans were in attendance and another big crowd is expected tonight as the Condors hold a three point lead on the division lead and have 16 games left in the regular season.

TONIGHT
The Bakersfield Condors host the San Jose Barracuda in a matchup of the two top teams in the Pacific Division. Overall, Bakersfield is 3-3-0 against San Jose this season, but have won two straight in the season series. Two of the Condors three wins have come past regulation with one in overtime and one via a shootout.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Condors saw their 17-game winning streak end last night, 1-0, at the hands of the Iowa Wild. G Andrew Hammond stopped all 30 shots. Bakersfield allowed a season-low 16 shots while D Caleb Jones fired eight shots for Bakersfield. It was just the second time the Condors were shutout, the first at home, and the first time since Sunday, Dec. 9 in San Jose.

San Jose recorded a franchise-high 56 shots, including 27 in the third period, but dropped an 8-4 decision in Ontario. C Alexander True scored twice while newcomer LW Jonathan Dahlen had two assists. G Antoine Bibeau got the start and surrendered seven goals on 44 shots.

LW Joe Gambardella leads the American Hockey League with a 29.4% shooting percentage.

RW Patrick Russell leads the Condors with a +28 and is fourth in the AHL.

MAGIC NUMBER
The Condors magic number to clinch a Calder Cup Playoffs berth is 20. That number decreases with points gained by the Condors or by the highest possible team outside the playoff picture failing to gain standings points. Tonight, two teams tied for fourth, Tucson and Colorado, face-off against one another. Bakersfield has 16 games left in the regular season.

The Condors are the only AHL team in the Top-5 in shots for and shots against… G Shane Starrett saw his individual 14-game winning streak end last night, but his goals-against average decreased and save percentage increased. He leads all AHL netminders with a 2.19 GAA… D Caleb Jones’ eight shots last night was a career high… D Keegan Lowe picked up his second fighting major of the season last night.

BARRACUDA NOTES
Last night, San Jose lost for the first time when scoring at least four games (18-1-0-0)… LW Jonathan Dahlen was acquired at the NHL Trade Deadline from Vancouver. The second-round pick (#42) in 2016 had 29 points (14g-15a) in 50 games with the Utica Comets… The Barracuda have the second best road record in the Pacific Division with a 13-9-1-3 record away from the Shark Tank.
