2019-20: Year 1 of a three-year NHL Entry Level Contract

THE PARTICULARS:

  • Drafted in the 2nd round (#40 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft by Edmonton
  • Turns 20 on September 21
  • 6’2”, 207 lbs. and from Mississauga, Ontario

NEED TO KNOW:

  • Led Mississauga with 44 assists in 2017-18 and was third on the team in scoring and goals
  • Had 194 points (61g-133a) in 261 career OHL games
  • Joined the Condors for the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs and had three assists in five games, including winning the face-off which led to Josh Currie’s double overtime winner in Game 5 of the Pacific Division Finals
  • Has two older brothers who also play professionally; Michael, a first-round pick of the New Jersey Devils and Matt, a recent Canisius College grad who has signed with Brampton of the ECHL

WHAT HE’S SAYING:
“I was really fired up to come here (Bakersfield) after signing my entry-level contract. It was good to get the experience before the summer, because in the pros everyone finishes their checks and there isn’t as much time and space to make plays,” –
McLeod.
