The Condors may have lost last night, but someone won an Apple TV thanks to Brad Malone and Big Brand Tire, so all was not lost right?

I gotta tell ya, this hasn’t been the best start to a season, but you know what? It beats being unemployed on a couch, and for that, I’m grateful we’re back dissecting a power play again!

And as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog (powered by Grapevine MSP) and I’ll do what I want…

Now for the blog.

How about the highlight reel goal from Cooper Marody last night? Thought the Condors tapped into something last night with him, Benson, and McLeod joining forces.

Condors Head Coach Jay Woodcroft called the Esposito-Malone-Gambardella line the “workhorse line” and it paid dividends last night as they combined for four points. Malone and Esposito joked pre-game that they wanted a shoutout to the Triple Diamond Platinum League, the local Thursday night pick-up league featuring Condors of yesteryear. Malone and Esposito were able to play in a few of the contests this season with the pause.

You can watch Friday night’s game against San Diego on AHLTV for free compliments of Dignity Health – Mercy and Memorial Hospitals. All you have to do is enter to win here. Puck drops at 6 p.m.

Saturday at 8 p.m. is our third of six games LIVE on 23ABC thanks to Three-Way Chevrolet and Dignity Health. Primetime Condors returns against Henderson.

ODDS AND ENDS…

The Condors power play had a chance to level the game twice in the third period last night and could not cash in. Seth Griffith hit a post and Ryan Stanton was robbed by Lukas Dostal on the follow up effort.

There are no more media meals due to COVID-19 protocols. It’s a shame, because we know how much I enjoy a good road meal. Didn’t realize how long it would be to go from noon to 10 p.m. without a meal! That said, post-game was Buffalo Chicken with Potato Salad and Coleslaw and was tremendous.

– The broadcast location in Irvine is basically 10 feet away from the Condors bench. With protocols removing the glass separating bench from Holty and a couple quick goals to start the game, Kevin Gravel turned and a gave a “we heard you Holty” in the first period last night. I have a feeling you could hear me in a packed building from that close though. Funny stuff.

Until next time Condorstown…
