Tonight’s match up:
The Condors have their backs against the wall, facing elimination in their best-of-five Western Conference Quarterfinal matchup against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Victoria handed the Condors their first home loss since Feb. 20 – a span of 46 days – snapping Bakersfield’s team-record 11-game home winning streak. Leading 2-games-to-1, Victoria has an opportunity to advance tonight, with a potential Game 5 on Monday in Bakersfield, while the Condors attempt to rally from a win-or-go-home series deficit for the second straight season. They trailed 2-1 in their opening round series against Victoria last April, and rallied to win the last two games and advance to the 2nd round.
Condors misc:
Bakersfield has not lost back-to-back home games since Nov. 27-29… The Condors were shutout in the playoffs for the first time since the opening round of 2009, when Las Vegas beat them 4-0 in Game 4… Despite suffering the loss, G Brian Stewart’s goals against average dropped to 2.71, which would rank 3rd lowest in Condors history for playoff GAA. He’s 4th in the league with 87 saves… LW Guillaume Lefebvre was kept off the board for the first time in the playoffs. He had 2g-2a in the first two games of the series, and remains tied for 3rd in league scoring… RW Pascal Morency leads the ECHL playoffs with three goals, all coming in the third period of a Game 2 victory for the Condors… F Andrew Ianiero is the Condors career playoff leader in games (46), goals (16) and points (33)… Last night’s crowd of 5,016 was the largest in the Kelly Cup Playoffs thus far.
Remaining games in the series:
Game 5: Monday, Apr. 11 vs. Victoria, 7 p.m. (if necessary)
*The winner of this series will advance to play the winner of the #3 Stockton vs. #6 Utah series (tied 1-1).
