GAME PREVIEW presented by Rodriguez & Associates
The Condors open the final weekend of the regular season with the first of two against Coachella Valley.
LAST TIME OUT
Bakersfield started the homestand with a 4-2 win over Henderson on Wednesday.
BIG PICTURE
The Condors are 24-14-3 (.622) in their last 41 games, good for third in the division over that stretch.
WHERE TO?
With Wednesday’s win, the Condors will face either Colorado or Abbotsford in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Bakersfield clinches the fifth seed with any win and Ontario regulation loss tonight. There are scenarios where a series with Abbotsford could be confirmed tonight, but not with Colorado.
PICKING IT UP
Calvin Pickard is 13-1-2 inside Mechanics Bank Arena this season and has won eight consecutive home starts individually.
DOUBLING DOWN
Alex Peters (1g-1a), Luke Esposito (1g-1a), and Dino Kambeitz (2a) all had multi-point games Wednesday. Peters has scored three goals in the last two home games, including two game-winners.
HOME COOKIN’
The Condors have won eight straight at home and are 16-2-2 in their last 20 home games.
QUARTER MARK
Raphael Lavoie’s 25th goal is the third most by a Condors AHL player. The record is 30 set last season by Seth Griffith.
RECORD BREAKER?
Bakersfield has 21 home wins this year to match last season’s AHL record for home wins in a season.
WELCOME, RYAN
Ryan Murray was loaned to the Condors by Edmonton yesterday on a conditioning assignment. The NHL veteran and former second overall pick has not played since November. He is eligible to play three games (including playoffs) with Bakersfield.
ON THE OTHER SIDE
Coachella Valley is a point out of the division lead with two games left after Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Ontario. The Firebirds can finish no worse than second in the division. They are 22-8-4 on the road.
