Condors Weekly: rival Stockton on deck

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors salvaged a point with an overtime loss on Saturday against the first-place Alaska Aces,  but their winless drought continued.  The Condors are 5-14-3-0, with 13 points in the Pacific Division standings.

WEEK IN REVIEW (Home team in CAPS):
Friday, Dec. 2
Alaska 2 vs. CONDORS 0
Attn: 4,545

G Gerald Coleman stopped 29 Condors shots, while RW Wes Goldie had a goal and an assist to lead the visiting Aces to a 2-0 victory over the Condors Friday night. Bakersfield outshot Alaska on the evening, but could get nothing past the Aces netminder, as they were shut out for the second time on the season.

Saturday, Dec. 3
Aces 4 vs. CONDORS 3 (OT)
Attn: 5,122

The Condors rallied in the third, scoring twice to erase a two-goal deficit and force overtime, however, Alaska prevailed by scoring a power play marker in the extra session. F Michael Gergen (pictured), D Erik Burgdoerfer and C Mathew Sisca each lit the lamp for the Condors, who maintained a 33-28 shot advantage in a game that featured plenty of physical play and four different Condors players dropping the gloves.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

  • During the Condors winless drought (0-8-2-0), the team has lost by one goal four times and by just two goals four times. Their only losses of three or more goals during this streak have come in Colorado, where they lost 3-0 and 6-3.
  • Three players made their Condors debut Friday night: D Tyson Gimblett (signed from the SPHL), C Robby Dee (trade from FLA), F Chris Kushneriuk (trade from WHL).
  • G Bryan Pitton has started four consecutive games. Neither he, nor counterpart G Matt Keetley, had previously started more than two straight games.
