TONIGHT
The Bakersfield Condors host the Las Vegas Wranglers for thethird and final time at Rabobank Arena. After gaining just one point through the first four games of the season series, the Condors have won the last two meetings including a dramatic 4-3 shootout victory on Feb. 11 which included a nearly two hour delay due to poor ice conditions. Despite playing in the same division, the two teams meet just eight times on the season and wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Las Vegas. Bakersfield is 2-3-1-0 against their rivals to the East. The Wranglers sit one point behing the Ontario Reign for the Pacific Division lead.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Bakersfield kept their playoff hopes alive with a convincing 5-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies last night on home ice. Justin Pender scored twice, including his second goal from beyond the blue line this season, in addition to Robby Dee scoring goals number 21 and 22 on the season. Bryan Pitton got the start in between the pipes for the Condors and earned the victory, making 29 saves on 31 shots. Ryan Annesley had the other goal for Bakersfield.
Las Vegas was in Stockton last night and fell 3-1, with all four of the goals coming in the third period. After Adam Miller tied the game midway through the third at 1-1, Stockton answered back with two goals in the next minute to skate away with the victory. Mitch O’Keefe started for the Wranglers and took the loss, making 29 saves on 32 shots.
CONDORS NOTES
Scott Greenham is expected to start tonight for Bakersfield marking the first time this season the Condors have played a netminder other than Bryan Pitton or Matt Keetley…D Justin Pender registered his third three-point effort of the season last night and his first multiple-goal game of his career…F Peter Boyd’s three assist night last evening was the first of his career…Today is Condors equipment manager John Doolan’s birthday.
