Condors keep fighting, beat Utah 5-2

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – F Robby Dee and D Justin Pender both scored twice to pace the Bakersfield Condors (20-37-4-3, 47pts) to a 5-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies (29-31-0-5, 63pts) in front of 6,292 fans Friday night at Rabobank Arena.

The Condors put up several big hits and 16 shots on goal in the first period, along with three tallies en route to a 3-1 lead. Pender lit the lamp with a wrist shot from outside the blue line at 4:32. Dee got on the board with his first of the period at 12:43, only to be answered by Utah 29 seconds later. Dee chipped in his second of the frame at 15:19.

Utah pulled a goal closer with a 5-on-3 power play tally at 11:20 to make it 3-2. D Ryan Annesley deposited a nifty backhander into the net for his fourth of the season with just 25 seconds left in the period.

Pender added his second of the night on the power play at 8:40 of the third. It was his first multi-goal game of his career. G Bryan Pitton made it stand up, with 11 saves in the third and 29 on the night.
