Condors comeback falls short, 3-2
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors (22-38-4-3, 51pts) saw and end come to their playoff hopes, as they fell to the Colorado Eagles (34-26-1-5, 74pts) 3-2 Wednesday night at Rabobank Arena. The loss eliminated the Condors from playoff contention.
F Teegan Moore, playing in his first pro game, banged in a rebound early in the second frame to make it 2-0 Colorado. But F Evan Trupp put the Condors on the board at 5:09 to give the team life, scoring his 10th of the season. Trupp’s second of the period at 14:25, off a F Parker Stanfield feed, tied the game at 2-2. Shots were 15-12 in favor of the Condors.
In the third, the Eagles pushed back in front for good. F Alex Penner slipped a shot past Pitton for his fourth of the season at 4:31 to make it 3-2. The Condors mounted a comeback effort, putting 16 third period shots on goal, but the equalizer eluded the home team. Jones finished the night with a 41-save victory, while Pitton suffered the hard-luck loss with a 37-save performance.
