Holty’s Blog: Things are Heatin’ Up
Less than two weeks away from the 4th Annual Holty Sabbatical, but there’s work to be done, so let’s get right to it.
Would like to point out first that friend of the blog @KevinBartl was and still is on vacation, apparently returning at some point today. It’s a good thing he has a trusty sidekick, because nothing of note was announced in the past week.
It’s not like we need Bartl here, because he doesn’t need to proof a blog. He proofs everything else, but as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want…
Now for the blog…
It’s been a busy week in Condorstown this week and it leads into a pretty busy week next week too.
The big news started Monday with the “set-in-stone” game dates for the Condors inaugural AHL season. They included Opening Night (Oct. 10), Field Trip Day (Nov. 18), Teddy Bear Toss (Nov. 28). It’s in your best interest to get a Pick-6 Plan which includes these games if you want the best seats for the best possible price.
Then, news came out that NHL hockey was returning to Bakersfield for the first time in 12 years. On Sept. 21, the Arizona Coyotes (Still in Glendale!) will host the Los Angeles Kings at Rabobank Arena. That means the Coyotes will be the first tenants of the Condors brand new player facilities. If you want pre-sale for this game, you need to be a member, so do what many did yesterday and call us! No really, the phone did not stop ringing.
Finally, we’re hosting a “Crafts for the Draft” party a week from tomorrow from 3:30 p.m. till the end of the first round. You can tour the locker room, beer specials, hang out with Condors fans, and watch as the Oilers draft the next stars in Oil Country. More on the draft next Thursday in the blog, but it should be a good one since Edmonton has 10 picks and three in the top 33 picks.
Other odds and ends:
- Condors staff, 12 of us in fact, are headed to Scottsdale Monday night for the AHL Sales & Marketing Meetings. I’ll assume we’ll have the largest staff there and the only staff used to the 110-degree temps. It’ll be the first time in 17 years the organization won’t win a league award, but there’s obviously an asterisk out there on that.
- Matt Riley was out sick for the last 2 days. To my knowledge, it’s the only time he’s ever been out sick in my time here.
- Big welcome as well to our newest staff member Liam Huculak who started today. If you recognize the name, you should, since he played here. He’ll be on the business development side, so if you have a company that wants to partner up with us, give him a call.
That’s it. Until next time #Condostown…
Ryan Holt is in his 5th season with the Condors. He may still blog while on sabbatical, he may not. You just never know with him. Follow him on Twitter @CondorsHolty or shoot him an email to rholt@bakerfsieldcondors.com for blog ideas.
