Condors in the Community: Condors join the Kern County Senior Olympics Opening Ceremonies and Parade

Wednesday, Oct. 5

Colonel Claw’d will be waking up early to appear at Standard Middle School, locatedat 1222 North Chester Ave., at 7 a.m. for their Walk and Bike to School Day, hosted by Bike Bakersfield. Bikecolsherif Bakersfield is a local non-profit that encourages bicycling as a safe, fun and environmentally friendly alternative for transportation. Wednesday, Oct.5

The Condors will behaving an intrasquad scrimmage for all season ticket holders to come out and watch at the Rabobank Arena, located at 1001 Truxtun Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. For more information call the Condors front office at 324-PUCK(7825).

Thursday, Oct. 6

Baby Cal and Colonel Claw’d will be at the 5th Annual Kern County Senior Olympics at the Rosewood Senior Living Retirement Community on 1301 New Stine Road starting at 8 a.m. Baby Cal and Colonel will be walking in the opening ceremony parade along with other organizations.

Friday, Oct. 7

Colonel Claw’d will be visiting Mountain View Middle School located at 8001 Weedpatch Hwy., from 8 to 9 a.m. Colonel will be joining and entertaining the students at their Career Fair.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Hockey returns to Rabobank Arena for the Condors Preseason Home Game against the Stockton Thunder., sponsored by KERN 1180 and Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center. Special ticket prices are available, $5 for Upper Bowl and $10 Lower Bowl tickets. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. Call 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.

The Condors will be joining AYSO Region 73 at the brand new Sports Village Park located on Taft Hwy., just west of Ashe Rd., from 9 a.m. until Noon to kickoff a fundraiser AYSO is participating in with the Condors. The Condors will be giving away prizes to those who stop by the Condors booth, where the inflatable slapshot will be set up. Colonel Claw’d will also make an appearance. Colonel will then make his way to Wasco for the Wasco Medical Plaza Community Health and Wellness Fair, located at 2300 7th St., from 1 to 2 p.m. Colonel will be entertaining guests who attend the fair to learn prevention tips for health issues. 

Open House Recap:

The Condors would like to thank all the fans who came out to the Condors Open House and Family Fun Day this past Saturday. Thanks to your donations, the Bakersfield Food Bank received 630 pounds of canned food. That brings the total to over 20,000 pounds donated in Condors history. Condors 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic:

golftouThe Condors host their 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 17 at Noon. This year’s event will be at RiverLakes Golf Course located at 5201 RiverLakes Dr. Teams are comprised of four entrants and a Condors player at a cost of $125 per person. Entry fee includes greens fees, cart, range balls, a sack lunch, one free putt in the putting contest, three free raffle tickets, specialty hat and a goodie bag. The Condors home opener is just 12 days away, when the Colorado Eagles come to town on Saturday, Oct. 15. Game time is 7 p.m. Ticket packages for the 2011-12 season are now on sale, starting at just $48.
