Condors rewind – Tyler Helfrich
When F Tyler Helfrich was picked up from Gwinnett for “future considerations” on Nov. 21, it didn’t make many heads turn. Nobody probably thought at the time the team had just acquired their leading scorer-to-be. Helfrich racked up 42 of his 50 points with Bakersfield. He tied for the team lead with seven power play goals, and only five rookies in the ECHL finished with more points than the RPI grad. His 31 assists were just short of the rookie leaderboard, and he came just one goal shy of the 20-goal plateau. He was the Kern Trophies Condor of the Month for January and won an ECHL Player of the Week award for the final week of the 2011 calendar year.
