I see that Oklahoma City signed Austin Fyten and C.J. Stretch…

Comments: I see that Oklahoma City signed Austin Fyten and C.J. Stretch for the upcoming season. According to ECHL.com both players were on the qualifying players list. If either/both player(s) were sent down to the ECHL this year, would they be sent to Bakersfield or back to Idaho and Ontario respectively?
Reply: Great question, David.
They would be sent to the ECHL team that held their rights. If a player is qualified by an ECHL team, when he gets sent down, if he is sent to the ECHL he must be sent there.
Case in point… if you recall, the Condors qualified Mark Derlago a few years back. He signed an AHL deal with the Manitoba Moose instead of signing with Bakersfield, but that season, when they sent him down to the ECHL, he had to come to Bakersfield because we had qualified him and held his ECHL rights. Manitoba was affiliated with the Victoria Salmon Kings that season.
If Victoria wanted him, they would have to have made a trade with us for his rights. But who would trade Mark Derlago??
