Condors.TV Interview with Condors President Matthew Riley
“We’re excited to get the season going,” said Condors Head Coach Matt O’Dette. “It’s a good opening weekend taking on the new team in our division and then our home opener against the reigning Western Conference champions. We’re definitely looking forward to it.”
Not only will the Condors open the season with two games against the Bulls, but they will play them four out of the first five games of the season and 12 times total; the most the Condors will play a single opponent in 2012-13.
Including San Francisco’s six trips to Rabobank Arena, the Condors will host each of their other three division rivals, Las Vegas, Ontario, and Stockton six times, which are the most times any team will visit Bakersfield.
On the home docket, Bakersfield will play 28 of their 36 home games (78%) on the weekends, which is an increase from the 24 weekend home games a year ago. Saturday is the busiest day for the team with 23 games, 13 of which will be on home ice. Highly anticipated home games include the annual Field Trip Day game at 10:30 a.m. against Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 15 and Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, Nov. 24 against Ontario.
Away from Condorstown, Bakersfield will play the annual “Midnight Game” in Las Vegas at 11:59 p.m. on the night of Dec. 16. Also, the team will head to the Eastern Conference for a three game weekend in Wheeling, Toledo, and Kalamazoo at the end of January, the busiest month of the season with 14 games. It will be the Condors first ever meeting with Kalamazoo, sixth with Toledo, and second with Wheeling all-time. That stretch is part of the longest road trip of the season, which has the team play seven games on the road in six cities over 13 days.
Eleven opponents are on the schedule this year which is four more than the 2011-12 season.
As previously announced, the Condors will play two preseason contests against Stockton beginning with a home game on Friday, Oct. 5 and in Stockton on Saturday, Oct. 6.
