Condors C Robby Dee Loaned to Abbotsford
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors announced that rookie C Robby Dee has been loaned to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL). Dee left for Abbotsford this morning from Salt Lake City where the Condors are preparing for a meeting tonight with the Utah Grizzlies. He becomes the second Condor this season to head to the AHL after G Matt Keetley was loaned to the Syracuse Crunch last week.
“We’re all happy for Robby,” said Condors Head Coach Matt O’Dette. “We want our guys to do well and move on. That’s what this league is about to give guys the chance to get opportunities at the next level. Certainly, you never want to lose a player like Robby, but it gives other guys a chance to step up.”
The Plymouth, MN native is second on the team in scoring with 26 points (14g-12a). His point total is tied for seventh among rookies in the ECHL and his three shorthanded tallies are second only to teammate Scott Freeman in the league.
Since being acquired from the Florida Everblades on Dec. 1, Dee has been nearly a point per game player for the Condors. In 20 games played with Bakersfield, he recorded nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. He was named the Kern Trophies Condor of the Month for the month of December.
The 6’1″, 195 lbs center played four seasons at the University of Maine where he totaled 74 points (33g-41a), including back-to-back 13-goal campaigns his junior and senior seasons.
Dee was drafted in the 3rd round (86th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
