Condors cannot solve Coleman in 3-0 loss to Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Bakersfield Condors (18-39-2-3, 41pts) could not beat G Gerald Coleman and were shutout by a stingy Alaska Aces (43-12-2-4, 92pts) defense, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.
For the second game in a row, the first period went scoreless as both goaltenders registered solid opening twenty minutes. The Condors had 1:23 of a five-on-three power play near the end of the period, but did not convert. G Brian Stewart stopped all 10 Aces attempts, while G Gerald Coleman denied nine Condors shots.
Alaska went on top, 1-0, when F Alexandre Imbeault potted his 16th of the year off a scramble in front. The Condors managed just three shots in the period as the Aces controlled the middle stanza, 16-3.
In the third, Bakersfield received a power play with just over six minutes left in regulation. However, Alaska’s top rated penalty kill shut it down and kept the Condors from getting a tying goal. The Aces took over from there scoring two late goals from F Alex Hudson (16:07) and F Spencer Bennett (17:16) to skate away with the sweep of the three-game series, 3-0.
