Condors deal Robins to Chicago

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors have traded the rights to RW Bobby Robins to the Chicago Express in exchange for future considerations.

Robins, 29, was tendered a Qualifying Offer over the summer with the intention of keeping him in Condorstown, but due to family issues he had requested the opportunity to play for a team closer to his home in Wisconsin. Robins posted 14g-13a-27pts in 46 games with the Condors in 2010-11, and finished second on the club with 186 penalty minutes.

“Obviously, trading a guy like Bobby isn’t something we set out to do,” said Head Coach Matt O’Dette. “From playing against him last season, he was one player that really stood out as a guy I wanted to build my team around. Unfortunately Bobby requested to be moved because of personal family reasons. Because Bobby is a stand-up guy, a first class person, we wanted to grant him that request. I believe that in the end it will work out for both sides and we wish Bobby all the best in the future.”

“I was honored to be one of the players added to Bakersfield’s protected list,” said Robins. “After the season ended I spoke to Riles and Coach O’Dette, and let them know that my hockey life was starting to take a toll on my personal life. I am grateful for their understanding in this matter, and I know that my family is grateful as well. Thank you to the fans and supporters who cheered for me and believed in me, and made my experience in Bakersfield a great one!”

The Condors open training camp for their 14th season next Friday, September 30.
