$20,050 raised in Jersey Off Our Backs Auction
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – F Slava Trukhno scored twice and added an assist as the Bakersfield Condors (10-13-1-0, 21pts) defeated the Ontario Reign (8-14-0-1, 17pts) 4-1. The Condors earned their second win in as many nights in front of 4,451 fans at Rabobank Arena on Saturday Night.
The Condors needed only 2:27 to take a 1-0 lead in the first period. Trukhno led a 3-on-2 rush and snapped a shot over the shoulder of G Kellen Briggs. The Reign answered 40 seconds later with a power play goal off the stick of C Aaron Lewadniuk. D Erik Burgdoerfer broke the tie and celebrated his birthday by pounding a slap shot into the back of the net for his first professional goal at the 15:39 mark. The Condors led 2-1 after one period of play and allowed only four shots on goal in the frame.
Bakersfield increased their lead in the middle stanza as RW Stephane Goulet picked up his tenth goal of the year. Just after a Reign penalty expired, Goulet found a loose puck and buried it in the back of the net. Just 18 seconds later, Trukhno added his second goal of the night after finding a loose puck on the left side of the net and wristing a shot through traffic into the top corner of the net.
The physical play picked up again in the third period, as 11 different infractions were assed during the final stanza. The Reign had their most dangerous offensive period in the third, firing 11 shots on G Josh Tordjman. Tordjman stood tall for the Condors as he denied every Reign opportunity during the period. He finished with 22 saves on the night, as the Condors collected a 4-1 victory.
