Condors prevail over Idaho in a shootout, 2-1
The Condors killed off the only two power plays in a scoreless first period of action, highlighted by some key early stops by Greenham. C Peter Boyd had the best scoring chance, on a two-on-one in tight, but was denied point blank by Idaho G Tyler Beskorowany. The Steelheads outshot the Condors, 10-7.
Bakersfield had three full power plays in the second period, but could not covert and the game remained scoreless after two frames. Shots favored the Condors, 13-12.
The scoreless tie was snapped near the midway point of the third. F Liam Huculak picked up his second of the season at 9:54. The Steelheads bounced back, however, leveling the score at 13:05 on a goal by C Justin Dowling. The goalies handled the rest of the game, stopping a combined 30 shots in the third period and overtime. Neither club could light the lamp in the extra session, and the game went to the shootout.
Beskorowany and Greenham dueled back and forth through nine rounds of the shootout. But finally D Deron Cousens, the 18th shooter of the shootout, ended the contest, providing the Condors with the extra point on the evening.
