Dee and Enders are back!
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors and Head Coach Matt O’Dette have announced they have agreed to terms with F Robby Dee and D Scott Enders. The duo brings the team’s 2012-13 training camp roster to five players, joining F Tyler Helfrich, F Chris Kushneriuk and D Justin Pender.
Dee, 25, is coming off a memorable rookie season in Condorstown. He led the Condors in goals in 2011-12, becoming the first rookie to do so since Mark Derlago in 2007-08. Additionally, his 24 goals rank third in Condors history for first-year players. The Plymouth, Minn. native added 24 assists for 48 points in 67 ECHL games. He was acquired by Bakersfield on Dec. 1 from the Florida Everblades in exchange for Jimmy Martin. With the Condors in 50 games, Dee recorded 19 goals and 40 points.
The 6-1, 185-lb winger received his first American Hockey League experience with the Abbotsford Heat, who signed him to a professional try-out agreement on Jan. 22. Dee scored his first AHL goal and appeared in three games with the Heat. He had the only hat trick of the season for the Condors, and added nine multiple-point games en route to finishing second on the club in points. Prior to turning pro, Dee played four seasons with the University of Maine.
“I’m excited to get the season going, playing in front of the best fans and for a great organization,” said Dee. “It should be a lot of fun.”
What O’Dette says:
“He’s a key piece of the puzzle, and any time you can bring back your top goal scorer it’s huge. As a rookie he established himself as a top player in our conference and we’re very excited to see him continue where he left off. He’s a guy that we’re going to build around going into the season and we’re looking for him to lead our offense.”
Enders, 23, broke into the pro ranks at the conclusion of his college career late last season. Once play at the University of Alaska completed, Enders joined the Condors and skated in eight games, tallying two assists and six penalty minutes. The Edmonton, Alberta native posted three double-digit point total seasons in Fairbanks, with 11 points (1g-10a) in his final campaign for the Nanooks.
“I’m excited right now,” said Enders. “It looks like we should have a really good team with a lot of the guys coming back this season. I really liked it in Bakersfield at the end of the season last year. The organization was really professional, the coaching staff was great, and the players welcomed me when I got there. So I’m excited.”
What O’Dette says:
“Enders is a guy we were very impressed with after bringing him in late last season. He’s a solid two way d-man that can play in both ends of the rink. He showed he can play physical as well, and we’re looking forward to him starting his first full pro season in Bakersfield.”
Opening Night in Condorstown is just 91 days away, on Sunday, Oct. 14 against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
