Tough guy gets his first crack at the AHL

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today that RW Erick Lizon has signed a PTO with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.

Lizon, 25, has appeared in 23 games so far this season and has accumulated a league-leading 117 PIM. Lizon is Lizonsecond in the league in major penalties with 9, all for fighting. He has also picked up four points on two goals and two assists, with his most recent goal serving as the game winner on December 1, when the Condors defeated the Ontario Reign 5-4. Last season Lizon’s total of 204 PIM was the highest for the Condors since the 2003-04 season, when “Nasty” Jon Mirasty recorded 358.

Lizon has played 194 professional games, spread out over four seasons among the UHL, CHL, and ECHL. In those games, he has  523 PIM, and 34 points (13g-21a). Lizon’s call-up to Worcester is the first of his career. The Sharks are the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, and play three games this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, in Connecticut, Bridgeport, and Manchester, respectively.
