GAME PREVIEW presented by Rodriguez & Associates

The Condors begin 2023 on home ice against Ontario. Tonight’s game is a rescheduled game from Dec. 16.

LAST TIME OUT

Calgary broke a second intermission 1-1 tie in the third to take a 2-1 victory over the Condors on Friday. Alex Peters scored the lone goal for the Condors.

ROAD LIFE

After tonight, the Condors have just seven home games between now and March 3. The team will play 15 of its next 22 games on the road before a seven-game homestand in March. Bakersfield will play 14 home games in the final eight weeks of the season.

PICKIN’ BACK UP

Calvin Pickard is expected to start tonight after missing 18 games due to injury when he left the November 15 contest against Colorado. At that time the Condors were 7-3-1 and atop the Pacific Division. Pickard is 4-2-1 on the season and has recorded a win in each of his last three decisions.

BAILEY FIRING

Justin Bailey, who has three assists in his last three games, fired six shots on Friday. Only Michael Kesselring’s seven in one game are more this season.

SPECIAL TEAMER

Five of Xavier Bourgault’s eight goals this season have come on special teams. He has three power-play goals and is tied for the rookie lead with two shorthanded markers.

SUCCESS AGAINST THE REIGN

The Condors have enjoyed success against Ontario over the past five seasons, owning a 22-14-7 record against the Kings AHL affiliate. So far the Reign have taken three of the first five in the season series, but only one of those games has been played away from the Inland Empire.

ON THE OTHER SIDE

The Reign have lost four straight, including a 3-1 New Year’s Eve setback to Calgary on Saturday.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The Condors hit the road for three beginning in Calgary Sunday (12 p.m.) and Tuesday (6 p.m.) before heading to Coachella Valley on Friday at 7 p.m. Bakersfield returns home for Youth Jersey Giveaway on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. against Tucson. Click here for tickets.
