Heywood joins team on ATO

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors, owned by the Edmonton Oilers, announced today that they have signed D Jordan Heywood to an Amateur Try-out Agreement (ATO).
HEYWOOD – career stats

  • 6’0″, 195 lbs., shoots right – Regina, Saskatchewan
  • Four-year defenseman at Merrimack College (Andover, Mass.) of Hockey East
  • Finished his career with 60 points (13g-47a) in 130 games from the blue line
  • Set a Merrimack record for games played with 147 (includes playoffs/tournament); did not miss a game in his college career
  • Runner-up for Hockey East Top Defensive Defenseman his junior campaign in 2012-13
  • Team captain for his junior and senior seasons

An ATO allows a player who has yet to play a professional game to play five games or spend 10 days with the team, whichever comes first, before the player has to be signed to a standard contract.

Merrimack was eliminated in the first round of the Hockey East Tournament by Maine last Saturday.
