HOLTY’S BLOG: The Bird Is Back
The bird is back in Bakersfield. Five years to the day after she “escaped” and created the most viral video sensation hockey has seen, Queen Victoria, King Edward, and Joe “The Birdman” are safely in Condorstown ready to celebrate the anniversary tomorrow.
You may have wanted the blog earlier, and that’s fine, but as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want.
Now for the blog…
– Here’s an interview we did last night on Insider with Joe “The Birdman.” It’s pretty cool to see the amount of passion and expertise he has in this field. The birds are in good hands.
– How about the star of the show? It does go correctly you know. Sometimes.
See, it can go according to plan. To the Queen! #Condors20 pic.twitter.com/0vf8Z57YKJ

– Ty Loney joined the team this week and we chatted about the move to California. The Condors are in desperate need of scoring. He had nine points in 20 games with Chicago last season, but is a point-per-game guy in the ECHL. I wonder if getting more minutes in the AHL will translate.
– Round two of Mr. Condor voting is underway. You can vote once a day, per device. Joel Broda nipped Steve Dowhy by nine votes out of over 8,000! You can click here to vote.
– It’s been interesting hearing from different age groups on who their favorite Condors player was/is. I think how old you were when you saw a certain player play definitely factors into the decision-making.
– Speaking of alumni, RSVP’s and tickets are on sale now for the Alumni Reunion and Celebration at the Marriott on February 22. It’s free if you are a member, but you need to RSVP. All the information at the link below.
It’s going to be a fun night welcoming back dozens of alumni. Members are free, but must RSVP. All the details for non-members here #Condors20 >> https://t.co/paVuUFq8t9 pic.twitter.com/87RHYFEoHu

– There are 25 games left for the Condors in the regular season. Last season 77 points got you in the playoffs. The year prior it was 73 points. Let’s split the difference and say 75 points gets you in if you’re a California team this season. Bakersfield currently has 42 points. What’s that mean? Team would need 34 points down the stretch or something like 17-8-0.
– Here’s the schedule breakdown for the final 25: 12 home, 13 road. 7 games against Ontario, 5 against San Jose and San Diego, 4 against Tucson, 2 against Manitoba and Stockton.
– For those wondering, the NHL Trade Deadline is at noon Pacific on Monday, February 26. I saw today that the New York Rangers flat out told everyone they’re selling off everyone. While I don’t foresee that coming from Edmonton, obviously anything the Oilers would/could do at the deadline, would affect Bakersfield. We shall see.
– The talking figurines tomorrow night are pretty cool. I mean, if you don’t hit the play button.

Until next time Condorstown…
Ryan Holt aka Holty is the Voice of the Condors in his 7th season. There are only three games in eight days on the upcoming road trip, which means plenty of food pictures. Follow him on Twitter for those and more nonsense or shoot him an e-mail to RHolt@bakersfieldcondors.com with questions, comments, or blog ideas.
