Huge crowd of kids sees 2-1 Condors victory
Post-game interviews from Burgdoerfer, O’Dette
The two clubs skated to a scoreless tie in the opening period. Both teams managed nine shots on goal, with Condors G Scott Greenham and Vegas G Joe Fallon keeping it 0-0.
The middle stanza appeared to be headed to a similar outcome, but the Condors tallied late to take the lead. D Erik Burgdoerfer swept in a rebound from his knees with just 14 second left in the frame to make it 1-0. Bakersfield led in shots 9-5 in the period, which also featured a tilt between Condors D Trevor Hendrikx and Wranglers LW Adam Huxley.
Vegas threw everything they could at Greenham in the third, and finally found the back of the net. F Josh Lunden scored on a rebound to tie it up 1-1 at 13:18. The Condors netminder had to make 15 saves in the third frame to keep it tied heading into overtime.
Prior to the game this morning the Condors acquired the rights to D David Walker from the Toledo Walleye for future considerations. Walker, 33, should be a familiar name to Condors fans, having spent the majority of his professional career playing in California. He skated from 2004-07 with the Long Beach Ice Dogs and from 2008-11 with the Ontario Reign, serving as team captain his final season with Ontario. Walker has subsequently been suspended by the team, as he has not reported to Bakersfield.
